FAQ: E-resources

ChemDraw Professional is a suite of software for Windows and MacOS environments and is available for annual download by all current Georgetown faculty, students, and staff. Full system requirements are available from Revvity Signals and are updated with each software release.

Users should download the software using the links from the Georgetown University Library website.

1. Follow the link to download ChemDraw Professional from either HoyaSearch or the A-Z Databases list.
2. You will be taken to a Revvity Signals User Registration page:
   1. New users
      1. You will need to create a personal account in order to download the software. Complete the required fields in the New User Registration section. All fields with a red asterisk are required. Use your "@georgetown.edu" email address for registration. The "Account ID" field is pre-completed.
      2. Click the "Register" button.
      3. You will be emailed a link to activate your account. Please follow the link within 72 hours of receipt to complete to account setup and software download.
   2. Existing users
      1. If you previously downloaded ChemDraw Professional and are upgrading your software, you likely have a Revvity Signals download account. Click on the "Existing user? Sign In" tab at the top of the page to access the login screen.
      2. You will be taken to a login screen. Enter your username and password and click the blue "Login" button to sign in. If you have forgotten your password, follow the "Password Finder" link below the login button.
3. After logging in, you are taken to the Download Center home page. In the left-hand menu, click on "List Downloads" under the Downloads header.
   
4. From the following page, click the link for "ChemDraw Professional".
5. On the New Versions tab, click on "ChemDraw Professional" to reach the installation files for the most recent version.
6. From the following page, multiple files are available. Click on the blue links under the "File Name" column to download individual files or use the check box next the "File Description" of multiple desired files and click the blue "Download Selected Files" button at the bottom of the list.
   1. Installers:
      1. ChemDraw Professional - WIN (for Windows computers - file name ending ".exe")
      2. ChemDraw Professional - MAC (for MacOS computers - file name ending ".dmg")
   2. User guides
      1. Multiple user guides to activation, use, and software requirements are available. It is recommended that users download and familiarize themselves with the following guides available for download:
         1. ChemDraw Product Activation User Guide [version number]
         2. ChemDraw Product User Guide [version number]
7. Note: prior to downloading or installing the ChemDraw Professional software, it is highly recommended that users confirm that their computers meet the recommended minimum requirements stated in the ChemDraw Product User Guide.
8. To install ChemDraw Professional, double-click on the installation file downloaded to your computer. You will be guided through the installation process by the installer.
9. Upon successful installation of the software, open ChemDraw Professional for the first time. You will be prompted to activate your software. Note: Full instructions for activating your software are available in the ChemDraw Product Activation User Guide you downloaded earlier.
   1. In the "Activate ChemDraw" window, enter the following information:
      1. Name: your name
      2. Organization: Georgetown University
      3. Email: your Georgetown University email address
      4. Activation code: the 16-digit activation code available from the Revvity Signals Download Center:
         1. Back in the Revvity Signals Download Center, from the same page that you downloaded the installer(s), click on the "List Entitlements" link under the Activation & Entitlements heading on the left menu.
         2. Find the entitlement with the most recent start date.
         3. Copy the 16-digit code the appears in the "ActivationCode" column.
   2. Click the blue "Activate" button.
10. When connected to the internet, you will immediately be notified that your activation was successful.
11. You may now begin using ChemDraw Professional.
