Who are the Lauingers?

The Library is named after Joseph Mark Lauinger, a 1967 Georgetown alumnus who died in Vietnam. His father, P.C. Lauinger, and three brothers also attended Georgetown and have been active members of the alumni community for decades. His brother, Philip Lauinger, Jr., is a longstanding member of the Georgetown University Library Board, and various members of the Lauinger family have established endowment funds that benefit the Library.
