Why doesn't Lean Library work in Incognito or Private Mode?

I use Incognitio Mode or Private Mode when browsing, so that my data isn't saved. Why doesn't Lean Library work in these modes?

Answer

By default, browser extensions like Lean Library are disabled in Incognito Mode (Chrome) or Private Mode (Firefox).

If you would like to run Lean Library in Incognito or Private Mode, you can manually enable the extension:

  • Chrome: Go to More Tools > Extensions and find the Lean Library extension ("Library Access"). Click Details. In the Details screen, scroll down and toggle Allow in Incognito.
  • Firefox: Go to Add-Ons and Themes and find the Lean Library extension ("Library Access"). Click the extension name to get the Details screen. Check Run in Private Windows.

For other browsers, or other questions about Lean Library, contact the Electronic Resources & Serials Unit.
