Can alumni use RefWorks?

If I use Refworks as a Georgetown student, will I retain access to my Refworks account after I graduate?

Answer

Yes! Main Campus alumni retain access to RefWorks after graduation. Please continue to use your NetID to log into RefWorks. (Note that alums do lose access to most Library databases -- RefWorks is one of the "happy few" that offer services to alumni.)

Faculty and staff who depart the University lose their NetID access, and so will also lose access to RefWorks. If you have used RefWorks, and want to retain your references, you'll want migrate your RefWorks data to a different citation manager like Zotero. The Library has information on migrating from RefWorks to Zotero.

If you are moving from Georgetown to a different college/university with a RefWorks subscription, we recommend "transferring" your RefWorks account to your new university. Contact Refworks Support to transfer your account (or within RefWorks, go to Help (question mark icon) > Contact Support).
