How do I associate my new (or existing ICPSR) account with Georgetown University?
Answer
In order to download many datasets from ICPSR, users must:
- Have a personal account on the ICPSR website and,
- Have that account affiliated with Georgetown University as an ICPSR member institution.
For the initial ICPSR account setup and at least once every 6 months thereafter, users must log in to their ICPSR accounts while either
- on-campus and connected to the wired or wireless (SaxaNet) networks, or
- through the proxied ICPSR links on the library's A-Z Databases list (recommended only for account setup and association).
Other connections to ICPSR can be made directly through the ICPSR website (without being on-campus or through a proxied URL) and the user's account will remain associated with Georgetown University's institutional account for a period of 6 months.
To create an account:
- Go to the ICPSR website.
- Click on the blue "Log In" button in the upper-right.
- Select the "Sign in with email" option. Do not select "Access through your institution".
- On the log in screen, click the "Set up a new account" link.
- Set up your ICPSR Researcher Passport using your Georgetown email address.
