I have concerns about people reading my GU dissertation. Can I restrict access to it?
Answer
All GU graduate students are required to deposit a copy of their dissertation or thesis with ProQuest (and thus ultimately with the University's institutional repository, DigitalGeorgetown, maintained by the Library). However, students often want to delay release or embargo their work for a period of time, either because the material is sensitive or because they are hoping to publish their work with a press.
As part of the submission process, students may request an embargo of 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years for their work (this applies both to ProQuest and DigitalGeorgetown). If you are an author of a GU thesis or dissertation, and want to change your embargo options, please contact the Graduate School.
More information about submitting your dissertation or thesis is available from the Graduate School.
