Q. COVID-19: I'm working on a senior thesis/capstone project this year, and I'm in the D.C. metro area. How can I get books?

Answer

If you are a thesis/capstone student within the District of Columbia metro area, you can use HoyaSearch to find books -- make sure to sign in first. Once you find what you're looking for in HoyaSearch:

  • choose "Georgetown Request" or (if that's not available) "Consortium Request"

  • choose Lauinger for pick-up

  • in the comment field, type the following:  I'm a senior thesis/capstone student and will pick up my books.

You can request up to five books at a time via HoyaSearch, and pick up as many as 15 books at one time from Lauinger Library.  Here's how it works:

  • As soon as you receive an email from Access Services that your first set of books are on the hold shelf, you can submit a second request for a second set of books (up to five) using HoyaSearch, then submit a third request for a third set of books (again, up to five) using HoyaSearch.
  • Once you get confirmation that all your requested books are ready, make an appointment right away to come in and pick up all the books you've requested. We suggest this because there isn't much space for book holds in our Library, and we can only hold each set of books you request for 10 days before the system cancels your request.
